Triumph Factory 1961

The Standard Triumph Car Factory, Coventry 1961
Footage taken inside the Standard Triumph car assembly plant in Coventry during what looks to be the early 1960’s. it was more of an assembly plant than factory as the body shells and engines were brought in from other parts of the group. The trucks carrying body shells about on the roads of the Midlands during the 60’s numbered in their thousands! It was also a major employer of local people with whole families sometimes working within the Group. Whole towns grew up around the workforce of factories like these. These particular cars being assembled are Triumph Heralds, nearly a half-a-million were built and shipped worldwide. Today, like many old vehicles, good examples are hugely sort after and have a passionate and loyal following worldwide.
